the display panel went out after 14 months, just after the manufacturer's warranty expired. the repair costs more than the tv did. extremely dissapointed. i paid more for a samsung thinking there was better quality control than the other brands, turns out they're just as bad, if not worse.

this tv was great until a week after 1 year warranty. it turns on and off by itself with no picture. have left unplugged from everything for two days and it comes back. only lasts a couple of days. even had a cable guy look at it and he said, "you got a bad tv." ugh

my unit totally died 9 months after purchase. took back to retailer for service. samsung elected to replace the 'mother' board rather than replace the unit after such a short period of use and such a major failure. took three weeks for the repair and return. should have been an immediate replaement.

extremely disappointed with television not working only nearly a year old. keeps loosing the picture randomly and not coming on for hours at a time. called for samsung tech and first one basically fried the mother board of the tv. had to wait a week another tech no with a completely out of service tv. next tech while nice did not fix the issue. thought this brand would be better quality.

id i could give it zero stars i would. the inly thing worse than the tv is the customer service trying to fix/replace the tv. i bought this tv in march and now in july it foesnt work for the second time. the first time a tech came and "fixed" it. that worked for exactly one week before it started messing up again. now i have been curcling the wagon with samsung customer service trying to get it fixed or replaced. it has been almost 2 months that i have been trying to get this done with no resolution. this has been the worse experience of my life

love the picture, easy set up, easy use, looks good, thin design. but the remote control is basic. no numbers, 1 button to navigate. i end up on the wrong channel when all i was doing was checking the channel info. the tv always restarts on what i left off on, even if i don't want it. the tv is great, 5 stars, the remote is 3 stars the only down side i have found so far

i've had this tv for about 2 months and the sound keeps cutting out intermittently. there is no external speaker connected and it happens frequently; several times an hour. i have looked on several forums and there is no guide to fix or any mention of resolution i can find. i only gave 2 stars because i bought a larger crystal tv (65") for a friend and she has had the same issue since it was installed, over 6 months ago. i didn't think much of it on hers at the time, but realized it must be a manufacturing defect, which i have seen on several forums. the return window has expired, so i'm kinda stuck with it. it's a great tv otherwise, but the sound cutting out randomly is incredibly frustrating.

i received this tv from best buy online damaged with a cracked screen like it was punched. no evidence it was due shipping. i got a replacement and it came with the same damage in the same area of the screen! and again no indication of shipping damage. so i called best buy support and insisted they pick it up and send a replacement that was opened and inspected for me. i stubbornly wanted this tv since i have the 43" version of it that i like. the third time seems to be the charm though it was not opened for inspection, but i seem to have a working 50" tv now. i don't know if i should never buy from best buy again or blame samsung for this circus. it was ridiculous!

owning this tv now for 3 weeks, we overall enjoy it. clear picture, good sound, we can even cast our iphones to the screen. cons: we strongly dislike the free samsung tv program when it comes on. we stream and there is nothing more irritating when a commercial comes blasting on. wish it could be removed (maybe in and update to software?) also, it was kind of hard to get subtitles on and off for the streaming apps. overall, really good tv.

i purchased this tv on december 21, 2020. within one month it started acting up. it switches off and on by itself every few minutes. after spending a significant amount of time with samsung customer service, they have agreed to give me a store credit in exchange for this malfunctioning tv. however i will have to make a 200 mile round-trip jaunt to take this tv to the nearest best buy store in exchange for a new one ! an extremely disappointing experience with this samsung product! the remote that comes with this tv is not only quite small but rather difficult to operate. you will not be able to operate this tv if you happen to miss place the remote because for reasons unknown to me, samsung does not offer any control buttons on the tv itself!

i purchased this tv as a replacement to a lemon that conked out on me after two years. this gave me the opportunity to consider many improvements. the tu-8000 has a beautiful picture, and i really like the tizen os, and how it allows me to use the same remote to control my cable channels and my streaming ones. there are a few minor shortcomings, like the viewing angle, and the judder on red artifacts while watching cable, but they are minor compared to all the pluses. i purchased the 50" with the plan of getting a qled model later on in a bigger size, and placing this tu-8000 in the bedroom.

easy to set up, easy to mount to wall. manual not helpful in explaining how to use onscreen menus and features. have looked everywhere (google too) for a solution to a volume annoyance. seems to jump two levels each time the volume button is pushed (3 to 5 or 7 to 9) - noting in between. default brightness out of the box is much too low.

Unable to change picture size in apps

i have always purchased samsung tvs in the past. i have always been happy with their performance and picture. this new one has a glitch in the settings as i am only able to adjust the picture size when i am on cable. once i go into any of my apps (nrtflix, hulu, prime etc.) the adjust picture size funtioned is grayed out. and you cannot adjust the picture size to fit screen. i have spoken to a tech at samsung and this apparently is a problem. i hope that in the near future there will be a software update from samsung to corrrect this problem.

this is a very good tv at an excellent price. it is very fast from menu to menu, etc. to me the biggest negative is an extremely spindly stand that takes up way too much space. the older center mount stand was much more stable and robust. this one looks like a puff of air would knock it over. don't use around kids unless you plan to wall mount.

since there is so little to like about this tv i will start with the only thing that it has going for it which is the image quality. the image is crisp,4k and has its high contrast samsung colors but just average within the price range. the slow processor and samsung ui pairing make the experience horrible. the built in speakers are probably the worst i have ever heard on a tv at this price. but the real problem i have had with the tv is the internet connection. it will consistently be unable to connect the wifi due to network issues every time the tv is turned off. i will have to reset the whole network setting or unplug and plug the thing to get it back on wifi. which leads to the biggest issue, samsung's tech support which is a joke.

the picture and quality seem really good but every time i turn on the tv and go to use the netflix app or any of the other apps, it says my tv is having a connection problem but when i go to look at the connection in settings it says it is connected. i then have to hold my power button for three seconds to reset the tv and then turn it back on, everyday. i am not a fan of the fact that you can't move the apps on the home bar. i changed the order in the apps page but it doesnt translate. also, the drop down function annoys me, i'd rather not have it and it would be nice to have an input button on the remote so i can easily switch from steaming to my games, instead of having to open the home bar and scroll all the way to the left. tv does the job and for the price, you cant beat it!

WiFi works poorly

i turn the tv off at night. the next day, when i turn it on, the wireless often won't connect to any of my access points. none of the smart features work when the wireless doesn't work. the only fix i've found is to pull the plug, and plug it back in, and then it immediately starts working. resetting the network settings doesn't work. it fails to discover any wireless networks after a network reset. it won't let me do a factory reset, but even if i could, that would take a lot longer than just pulling the plug. since it has the same problem with all three of my access points, all made by different manufacturers, it is definitely a samsung problem. i'll revise this review if they ever fix it.

i had a 46" led samsung with smart hub, which operated flawlessly for over 10 years - this was the replacement. at this point, i have not fed any 4k content to this tv but the picture is much clearer, and vibrant with distincly darker blacks - so yes, i am thrilled and can't wait to experiance its 4k capability. set up was remarkably easy, and connected to my dvd, vcr and spectrum cable flawlessly - to include the remote! sound is a little better than the old tv, but when veiwing movies will still interface with external speaker system.......on that note......the old tv had connections for my stereo input and this one has hdmiarc out and optical audio out, i used a converter ($15) for the optical audio out and it worked fine, although signal level is low. all in all, a very good buy!!!

so apparently i recently purchased the new samsung series 8 50" tv, i've only had this product for about 2 maybe 3 weeks. i was watching a movie on my firestick, then suddenly my screen goes black, and starts to go from dark black to light as though the tv was trying to come back. i called samsung to get someone out here to service my t.v. because the screen shows nothing at all and has no sound. they told me i gotta wait more than 4 day's before i can have my t.v. up and running again, ridiculous...

the picture is quit dark and oversaturated. the interface is sluggish and the built in google assistant is unintuitive and only recognizes volume change and speaking the channel number....totally useless. apps are missing from the tv that the e-manual clearly states should be preinstalled and not available in the app store. very disappointing. samsung can do better than this

incredible picture, great sound. the only problem we have met is last night, the set absolutely refused to turn on. we ended up essentially performing the windows fix: unplugging it and plugging it back in. disappointing, to say the least.

when i first saw the display model of this tv it was clear and crisp just like your website describes it. two weeks later i purchased the tv. after wall mounting it and turning it on, i was totally disappointed with the picture. it was not clear and crisp. it was a dull unclear and uncrisp picture. looking closer at the screen i noticed that there was a plastic film on the screen. not being able to peel it off i called your tech support and was told it is permanent to protect the screen. after looking at more reviews i find out that there were numerous complaints about cracked screens. it seems samsungs fix was to place that plastic film on the glass screen, thus the not so clear and crisp but dull picture. this is a bad fix by samsung.

Great tv picture wise but the UX could be improved

I'm not a TV expert, my last tv was a cheap 1080p 32" TV, so this is a huge improvement, but that's not to say I don't love it. My last tv had smart features but besides the buttons on the remote you could use it every day and forget it was smart, and I like that. I used to use a Chromecast and now I have a Nvidia Shield, so I don't need a smart tv, I find using the shield much better than the TV apps built in. Not to mention the UI of the tv can be slow and laggy, with very noticable input lag. And of course ads being displayed. The UI was also pretty confusing when I first got it, and it's still sometimes confusing, and I'm a young computer science major. I liked my old tv where if I had to change input I could do that quickly without needing to shuffle through a menu or having to see a banner ad. There's "Samsung TV" but I honestly don't think anyone watches it, to me it's just more waste. An ideal TV to me would be one that has smart capabilities, like casting and voice assistants, but you could either disable those, or be able to use the tv without seeing them. I get this is the trend and it's basically impossible to but a new TV that isn't smart, but at the very least don't push ads into us. I already paid $500 for the TV and now you're showing me ads every day I use it?

Tricky to Adjust to get clear picture

The picture was very washed out when first set up out of the box. I read other reviews and eventually found setting (options) to adjust color and other picture qualities. I kept playing with the setting until I got something close to good settings for all programs. I still think the picture is not as bright, clear and crisp as I would like it.
